Work package 1

The WP objective is to enhance the research capacity and skills of coordinating team. The activities will include joint field trial data collection followed by data analysis, joint supervision of master and PhD thesis and joint publications including training on scientific writing.

The objective of the task is to prepare an agreed list of plant and soil data to be collected in the joint research activity in WP2. Several rounds of discussion will be held with the partners to discuss the different plant and soil data to be collected and the corresponding statistical analysis of the data. Hence, a standard format will be prepared to plan the data use from the field experiments for preparation of manuscript for publications.

The objective is to carry out 2 workshops on scientific writing in which the partners can participate and experts on scientific writing will be hired to carry out the training. A part of the course will include where the students will prepare a manuscript and the expert will provide inputs to improve the manuscript. In this way, hand-on training will be provided which will improve the writing skills and style of the partners.

The objective is to facilitate joint supervision by the supervisors from UCPH, ESCI and SLU. NUBIP will identify 5 master and PhD students and ESCI, UCPH and SLU will supervise at the minimum 1 student from NUBIP, totaling 5 students in total in the project. The joint supervision themes will be based on the joint field research in WP2 on agroecological practices viz. productivity in cereal-legume intercrops, ecosystem service provision, crop yield responses to biostimulant application, environmental footprint assessment, life cycle assessment and valorization of intercrop for food and feed use.

The objective is to prepare manuscripts by the 5 master and PhD students based on their thesis to publish in peer-reviewed articles. Each student will be attached to the supervisors for 6 months during the project to prepare the first draft of the article after which the student will prepare the final draft for submission based on the advice from the supervisors. Hence, 4 articles will be published as outcome from the student thesis, which will uplift the scientific excellence of NUBIP team.
