Internship of PhD Student Viacheslav Chobotar from the Department of Analytical, Bioinorganic Chemistry and Water Quality within the Ecotwins Project at the University of Copenhagen
During April 2025, I had the opportunity to complete a scientific internship at the University of Copenhagen (Denmark) as part of the international Ecotwins project. I would like to emphasize that this was a significant milestone in my professional development. Participation in the internship contributed to the deepening of my research competencies in the field of analytical chemistry and agroecology, particularly in the implementation of modern innovative approaches to sample preparation and quality control analysis.
One of the key areas of the academic mobility program was familiarization with advanced sample preparation methods used to ensure high accuracy and reliability of analytical studies in the modern laboratories of the University of Copenhagen. Under the expert guidance of experienced scientists, particularly Professor Bhim Bahadur Ghaley, I had the opportunity to gain in-depth knowledge of methods such as:
- Sample extraction and purification;
- Spectrometric analysis methods;
- Isotopic analysis techniques.
These approaches play a crucial role in enhancing the efficiency of analytical research, and their practical application was a valuable addition to my scientific experience.
The internship program allowed me to explore innovative analytical methods applied in the university's research laboratories and gain essential experience in conducting studies at an international level. In addition to theoretical knowledge, we worked hands-on with laboratory equipment that meets the latest requirements in the field of environmental monitoring.
I had the opportunity not only to master modern laboratory techniques but also to visit specialized research laboratories and technological facilities of the university, which enable analytical quality control of products, water, and soil. Studying the latest devices and technologies for water filtration and purification is of great importance for addressing environmental challenges, especially in Ukraine.
Beyond professional experience, participating in this program provided an excellent opportunity for cultural exchange. During my stay in Copenhagen, I was able to explore the city, visit museums and historical sites, and interact with people from different countries. This helped me better understand their culture, perspectives, and what unites us as researchers. The atmosphere was very friendly and inspiring.
I express my sincere gratitude to the ECOTWINS project coordinator, Professor Oksana Leonidivna Tonkha, for organizing the internship and providing the opportunity to acquire new knowledge and skills that will undoubtedly influence my future research. Special thanks to my colleagues from the University of Copenhagen for their assistance, support in the work, inspiring and productive discussions, and help in planning future studies.
Participation in international projects is an important stage in the development of young scientists, and I am grateful for the opportunity to be part of this process.
