A new impetus for research and innovation in controlled environment agriculture – first results of the Horizon Europe project competition

This is how the results of the evaluation of a joint project prepared by the teams of the Agrobiology Faculty, the Faculty of Animal Science and Water Bioresources, and the Faculty of Information Technologies of the National University of Life and Environmental Sciences of Ukraine can be characterized – Building Networks of Excellence in Controlled Environment Agriculture for Transformative and Inclusive Research and Innovation in Widening Countries (HYDRALINK), which has won the Horizon Europe competition.


As NULES of Ukraine acts as the main coordinator of a consortium uniting leading universities and research centers, this achievement highlights the University’s strong scientific potential, its openness to new opportunities in innovation, sustainable development, and international cooperation in modern agriculture.

The project duration is 48 months, and it is coordinated by Vice-Rector Oksana Tonkha.

The project aims to develop innovative technologies and approaches to sustainable agricultural production, expand international cooperation with EU countries, and improve collaboration between researchers and producers within Ukraine.

Within the project, knowledge and experience exchange among scientists, students, and enterprises is envisaged, along with joint research, training activities, and the implementation of modern solutions for efficient and environmentally sustainable production in controlled environments.
